Real Madrid make Haaland summer transfer target

 

Real Madrid have earmarked Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland as their No.1 transfer target for the summer, reports Marca.

 

Haaland has emerged as the most sought after striker in European football since the beginning of the season after showing blistering form for Salzburg and now Dortmund.

 

The 19-year-old snubbed interest from Manchester United to join Dortmund in January in a deal worth just £17.1M and he could be on the move again with Madrid now keen on the Norway international.

 

Madrid are desperate to find a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema, who will turn 33 at the end of the year, and have previously been linked with moves for Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe.

 

Zinedine Zidane's side accept the chance of Mbappe leaving the Ligue 1 champions is relatively low this summer but plan to rekindle their interest in 2021 after the Euros.

Haaland's agent, Mino Raiola, reportedly secured a release clause in the region of £63M as part of his client's move to Dortmund and Madrid will have no problem matching it. 

 

Haaland netted a devasting hat-trick off the bench on his Dortmund debut in January scored eight goals across his first four appearances for the club in all competitions.

 

He finished his first year of Champions League with 10 goals across eight matches for Salzburg and Dortmund, including goals in each of his first five appearances in the competition.
