Everton-Liverpool team news: Salah and Firmino out as Ings and Solanke start

Jurgen Klopp has rung the changes for the Merseyside derby with Everton with a number of injury concerns to contend with ahead of their Champions League second leg at Manchester City next week.

Mohamed Salah will miss a Premier League match for the first time all season as expected having been forced off in the week, while Emre Can, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Adam Lallana are all sidelined.

Nathaniel Clyne makes his first appearance of the season following a long-term injury, replacing Trent Alexander Arnold at right-back, while Ragnar Klavan has been passed fit and surprisingly gets the nod over Alberto Moreno to replace Andrew Robertson on the opposite side of the defence.

Georginio Wijnaldum comes into the side, while Jordan Henderson keeping his place given that he is suspended for the trip to the Etihad on Tuesday. The former has had a huge impact on results when starting in the Premier League this season, with Liverpool winning just four of 11 matches (36.4%) without the Dutchman in the starting XI compared to 15 of 21 (71.4%) when he has been involved.

Elsewhere Danny Ings is making his first ever start under Jurgen Klopp after years of injury problems and his first in since appearing in this fixture way back in October 2015, scoring the opener in a 1-1 draw with one of only three goals for the club. He will play in a front three alongside Sadio Mane and Dominic Solanke, with Roberto Firmino among those rested.

The hosts make just one change from the side that lost to Manchester City last time out, with Tom Davies replacing Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Idrissa Gueye is back in the squad but only fit to make the bench, while Ashley Williams - back available following a suspension - is not involved.

Wayne Rooney moves further forward as a result having scored the Toffees goal in the stalemate between the sides back in December.
