Liverpool will bid for Chelsea and Arsenal target

Liverpool have rekindled their interest in Monaco star Thomas Lemar and will rival Chelsea and Arsenal for his signature next month, reports The Independent

Jurgen Klopp’s side wanted to sign Lemar in the summer but refused to match Arsenal’s £80m bid but are now scouring the market in preparation for Philippe Coutinho’s departure.

Arsenal and Chelsea are readying January bids for Lemar but the France international would reportedly prefer to move to Anfield, giving Klopp’s side an early advantage.

Arsenal and Liverpool are both desperate to keep hold of their best player in January and part of the reason they both want to sign Lemar is due to uncertainty around the respective futures of Alexis Sanchez and Coutinho.

The Gunners also face missing out on the 22-year-old as he wants to play in the Champions League and Liverpool appear the most likely option to provide that.

Lemar has only scored or assisted five goals in 12 Ligue 1 appearances this season but niggling injuries have partly been to blame. He is expected to line up in Monaco’s final game of 2017 against Rennes on Wednesday evening, which could prove his last game for the club.
