Conte sends warning to Chelsea

Antonio Conte insists he wants to see out the remainder of his Chelsea deal but has warned the club he will not be short of job offers if he leaves before then.

The Italian’s long-term future at Chelsea has been uncertain since the start of the season even though he signed a new contract in the summer.

Conte only agreed a bumper new payday after leading Chelsea to the Premier League title in his first season in charge but didn’t extend the duration.

Chelsea have struggled at the times this season and Conte is widely expected to mutually part ways at the end of the campaign.

However, Conte reiterated his commitment to Chelsea until 2019 in the wake of an impressive 1-1 draw with Barcelona on Tuesday night, but warned his life does not depend on the west London outfit.

“My intention is to remain here, but if something were to change, there would be several different scenarios opening up,” he told Mediaset Premium, via the London Evening Standard.

“In 14 years, Chelsea have changed coach 10 times, so they do have a tendency to chop and change here.

“It’s not problem for me, in fact I really like pressure. I just hope it doesn’t affect the players.

“I said very clearly, I have a contract to 2019. I intend to respect it. After that, anything can happen in football. I am happy at Chelsea, but both parties need to be happy.”
