Arsenal beat Manchester City to new full-back

Arsenal have beaten Premier League rivals Manchester City to the signature of Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac, reports Sky Sports.

The Bosnia international is a free agent at the end of the season and has turned down the chance to play for Pep Guardiola in order to secure a move to Arsenal.

Kolasinac was heavily linked with a move to Juventus at the start of the year but a move failed to materialise and now Schalke will lose the left-back for nothing at the end of the season.

It is only a further indication that Arsene Wenger will stay on as Arsenal manager after impressively fending off competition from City to sign Kolasinac.

The 23-year-old will join Arsenal in the summer with a view to being Nacho Monreal’s long-term replacement, who will turn 32 towards the end of next season.

Wenger has also experimented with a back three towards the end of the current campaign, which Kolasinac is well versed in having played in that system for most of the season.

Kolasinac is the highest rated Schalke player in the Bundesliga this season (7.32) having played a direct hand in eight goals (three goals, five assists).
