Maddison commits future to Leicester following Man Utd interest

James Maddison has penned a new four-year deal with Leicester worth £95,000-a-week, claims The Sun.

Maddison's previous deal still had three years left to run but Leicester have moved to reward the 23-year-old with improved terms.

The England international was regularly linked with a move to Manchester United earlier in the season and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will now have to look elsewhere to bolster his midfield.

Leicester missed out on Champions League football for next season with a 2-0 defeat at home to United on Sunday, with Maddison watching on from the stands.

Maddison missed Leicester's last six games of the season through injury and only managed to feature in three games following the restart.

Leicester held an eight point lead over fifth place heading into lockdown but finished the season four points outside the top four.

Brendan Rodgers' side sorely missed Maddison in midfield connecting midfield and attack but have at least managed to secure his long-term services.

Maddison finished his second Premier League campaign in the WhoScored Team of the Season and ranked behind only Kevin De Bruyne (3.9) for most key passes per game (2.5).
