Chelsea loan star admits future could be away from club
Tammy Abraham has admitted his best interests could be away from Chelsea following his sensational start to life on loan at Bristol City.
The England U21 international joined City on a season-long loan deal at the start of the season and his goalscoring performances have been thoroughly impressive, leading to talk suggesting he could succeed in the first-team at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea’s controversial loan system is well documented and Abraham admits he may not be the academy star that breaks the mould, and accepts he might have to forge a career away from his parent club.
“In three years I want to be playing at the top level, at whichever team I’m at,” Abraham told The Daily Mirror. “I just want to be one of the best in the Premier League, scoring goals.
“I’m not too surprised with how it’s gone this season because I know my ability and I’m confident in what I can do. Scoring goals is what I love and it gives me that confidence every time I hit the net.
“I knew what I was going out on loan for when the deal was agreed [with Bristol City] and I had to get into the right mentality. I’m playing men’s football now and just need to adapt to the situation. Luckily I’ve been doing that. I’ve been performing on the pitch, and giving my all.”
Despite being only 19, Abraham has already developed into one of the most revered strikers in the Championship.
In fact, only Dwight Gayle (11) has scored more goals in England’s second tier this season than Abraham (9). The Chelsea loan star is already displaying his skills as a predatory finisher, with all nine of his goals coming from inside the penalty area.
