Manchester United star open to Real Madrid move

Marcus Rashford will consider quitting Manchester United for Real Madrid if he fails to nail down a regular starting berth at Old Trafford, claims The Sun.

Madrid have emerged as shock suitors for the England international and have even reached out to the forward’s representatives about a potential move.

Rashford has emerged as one of the brightest young forwards in European football in the last few years and it would be a huge blow for United to lose one of their own.

Madrid have changed their approach in the transfer window in recent years and are now looking to hoover up the best young talent rather than sign readymade superstars.

Jose Mourinho has defended his use of Rashford on several occasions in the past but the 21-year-old is concerned his career is stalling under the Portuguese.

Rashford will only have 12 months left to run on his current United deal at the end of the season, although it is likely the Red Devils will have the option to extend his stay by another year.

Nevertheless, Rashford will consider his future at Old Trafford if he does not cement a regular starting berth and is open to making a shock move to Madrid.

Since Mourinho took charge of United in the summer of 2016, Rashford has made more appearances than any other player at the club (117).

However, that is misleading as the likes of Paul Pogba, Chris Smalling and Antonio Valencia have all featured in more minutes than Rashford. In the case of Valencia, the veteran has played 20 fewer matches than Rashford.
