Inter to lodge improved £60m bid for Manchester United striker

Inter will table an improved £60m plus add-ons bid for Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku, claims Sky Sports.

Inter manager Antonio Conte has earmarked Lukaku as his top transfer target this summer after missing out on his signature during his time at Chelsea.

Lukaku has dropped down the pecking order at United since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival and wants to work with Conte at Inter.

Selling Lukaku is not a priority for United but they will allow his departure if they recoup their initial £75m outlay.

Inter have already had several proposals knocked back by United and Conte’s side are now ready to lodge another bid for the 26-year-old.

One of Inter’s previous bids was a two-year loan deal with an obligation to sign Lukaku for €60m (£54.2m) in the summer of 2021.

Inter are now ready to test United’s resolve with a £60m bid outright, which would be paid over two years, and potential bonuses that would top up his fee.

Lukaku has spent the last two years at United and is the club’s top scorer in the Premier League in that time (28).

However, the Belgian’s performances have divided opinion among supporters during that time and he only netted 12 league goals last term.
