Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has added Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland to his list of goalkeeping targets this summer, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Guardiola is expected to go out and sign another goalkeeper just 12 months after signing Claudio Bravo from Barcelona in a deal worth £15.4m.
The Chile international is ruled out for the remainder of the season with a calf injury but it has been a disastrous maiden campaign for the 34-year-old at City and Guardiola will resolve that position at the end of the season.
With Joe Hart expected to be sold when he returns from his loan spell at Torino, Guardiola is interested in turning to his international teammate, Butland, who has only just returned from a nightmare 13 months out on the sidelines with an ankle injury he picked up on England duty.
Butland is regarded as one of the brightest up-and-coming goalkeepers in the Premier League, while another of those, Jordan Pickford, is also on City’s radar this summer.
Of goalkeepers that have made more than 10 appearances in the Premier League since the start of last season, only three have a better save success than Butland (73.5%).
