Liverpool set to name shock XI for Merseyside derby amidst injury concerns

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that there will be at least ‘one or two’ youngsters in his squad for the Merseyside derby with Everton this afternoon, having named as many as six in his initial party for the match at Goodison Park.

The Liverpool boss also intimated that Danny Ings is in line to make his first ever league start under the German during his pre-match press conference, stating: “Danny is in a good shape. I would not guarantee it but it doesn’t look too bad that he could start tomorrow”.

Top scorer Mohamed Salah is unlikely to be risked having been forced off in the second half against Manchester City in midweek, while Klopp has confirmed that Emre Can will be out for at least another fortnight with a back problem.

The two first team regulars are likely to join the likes of Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, Ragnar Klavan and Adam Lallana on the sidelines, so an experimental line-up is likely ahead of the Champions League second leg next week.

As far as Everton are concerned, they have been boosted by the return of key midfielder Idrissa Gueye, with Toffees boss Sam Allardyce confirming: “He finished a full training session today so if he has no reaction he is in the squad”.
