Liverpool want Mbappe to replace Mane

Liverpool will make an audacious play to sign Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe if Real Madrid prise Sadio Mane away from the club this summer, claims The Sun.

Zinedine Zidane is a huge admirer of Mane and wanted to sign the Senegal international before resigning as Madrid head coach in 2018.

Mane has continued to develop into one of the most effective wingers in European football since then and is back on Zidane's radar for next season.

Liverpool want to keep Mane and are determined to fend off Madrid's interest but Zidane is desperate to secure a £150M transfer for the 28-year-old.

It has emerged Liverpool are prepared to make a huge play to sign Mbappe, who has also been linked to Madrid, as a potential replacement for Mane.

The 21-year-old is considered the heir to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's throne as the world's best player and it would be a major coup for Liverpool to land the 2018 World Cup winner.

Mbappe is currently the fourth highest WhoScored rated player in Europe's top five leagues this season (8.14) after playing a direct hand in 23 goals in 20 league appearances for PSG.

Since joining PSG in the summer of 2017, Mbappe has played a direct hand in 84 goals in 76 league appearances.
