Juventus defender signs new five-year deal

Juventus have announced Daniele Rugani has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal keeping him at the club until 2021.

Rugani has spent the last three years with Juventus and is widely considered as one of the next best defenders emerging from Italy.

The 22-year-old has been forced to be patient since joining Juventus from Empoli with Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli ahead of the youngster in the pecking order at the club.

However, Juventus have moved to secure his long-term future and have now got Rugani to extend his stay by a further 12 months at the club, as well as receiving an increase in salary.

With ongoing fitness concerns plaguing Bonucci and Chiellini’s season, Rugani has been afforded more game time so far this season, starting five Serie A matches. In fact, the Italy international has already scored more goals in that time (2) than he had managed in the whole of last season.
