Arsenal targeting former Stoke midfielder

Arsenal have joined the race to sign Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, reports the Daily Express.

The Frenchman has been attracting interest from a host of teams across the continent following an excellent first half to the season under Jorge Sampaoli.

The uncapped midfielder is supposedly on the radar for Chelsea, Manchester United, PSG and Juventus on the back of his fine form.

Arsenal lose Mohamed Elneny to the Africa Cup of Nations following the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace and with Santi Cazorla sidelined through injury, manager Arsene Wenger has limited options in the middle of the park.

Sevilla are reluctant to cash in on the 28-year-old, whose WhoScored rating (7.21) is the second best of all players for the Spanish side in La Liga this season.

However, the Gunners are planning an opening gambit of £25m in order to convince Sevilla to sell N’Zonzi, though they may have to push that bid higher to beat off competition for the player’s signature.
