Napoli and Ajax are prepared to test Tottenham's resolve with a bid for Jan Vertonghen this month, claims The Daily Telegraph.
Vertonghen has entered the final six months of his existing Tottenham deal and is on course to leave the club for nothing at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old is free to discuss a Bosman transfer with foreign clubs but Napoli and former club Ajax want to sign the veteran this month.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will entertain any bids for Vertonghen this month but they could lose him on a free in the summer.
Vertonghen has spent the last seven years at Tottenham after signing from Ajax in 2012 in a deal worth £13m.
Tottenham have managed to secure Toby Alderweireld's best years since Jose Mourinho's arrival but they have had no such luck sorting Vertonghen's future.
Vertonghen has mainly been used as a left-back under Mourinho and has played a direct hand in two goals in 14 league appearances so far this season.
