Fabian Delph will be rewarded with a bumper new Manchester City deal if he remains injury free for the rest of the season, reports The Daily Mirror.
The 28-year-old looked destined to leave City over the summer after struggling to find a role at the club but has transformed into an important player under Pep Guardiola this season.
Delph has sufficiently acted as an emergency left-back for City since Benjamin Mendy suffered a season-ending knee injury at the end of September.
Guardiola is still exploring the possibility of signing a recognised left-back in January but Delph’s importance has not gone unnoticed.
Delph has struggled with knee injuries during his career and City will reward the England international with a pay rise in the summer if he stays fit until then.
Only Ashley Young (7.44) has earned a higher WhoScored rating than Delph (7.19) of all left-backs in the Premier League this season.
