Arsenal set to cash in on attacker

Arsenal are prepared to offload Henrik Mkhitaryan this summer, despite backing the Armenian ahead of next week’s Europa League final, reports the Sun.

Mkhitaryan will play no part in the match in Baku due to security fears, which has resulted in supporters calling on Arsenal to boycott the Europa League final.

Due to his heritage, Mkhitaryan won’t travel to Azerbaijan as concerns over his safety and it’s seen many rightly criticise UEFA for their handling of the situation.

The 30-year-old sat out Arsenal’s 3-0 win at Qarabag earlier in the competition for the same reason, yet while the Gunners are backing their player, they will still listen to offers for the former Manchester United man.

Mkhitaryan has struggled for consistency since arriving from United 18 months ago and scored just six league goals this season.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery would favour cashing in on Mesut Ozil, but is prepared to cash in on Mkhitaryan to free up funds to improve the squad in the off season.

His underwhelming form in the Arsenal side has seen him return a WhoScored rating of 6.88.
