Liverpool goalkeeper in talks to join Besiktas

Besiktas are in talks to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius on a season-long loan deal, claims The Daily Mirror.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are open to offers for Karius following two fairly disastrous years at Anfield.

Karius turned in a nightmare performance in last season’s Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid and has dropped down the pecking order since then.

Liverpool signed Alisson from Roma over the summer in a blockbuster deal worth more than £60m and now Karius is at a crossroads in his career.

Liverpool are willing to let one of Simon Mignolet or Karius leave the club this month and the latter now looks favourite to depart.

Besiktas want to sign a new goalkeeper before the transfer window closes at the end of the month after selling Fabri to Fulham earlier this summer.

The Turkish giants were linked with a move for Arsenal reserve David Ospina but the Colombia international ended up joining Napoli.

Besiktas have now sounded out Karius and any loan deal will likely include an option to make the switch permanent at the end of the season.

Despite committing two errors that directly lead to goals in last season’s Champions League final, Karius did keep the most clean sheets in the competition (6).
