Chelsea demand £80m for Inter target

Antonio Conte's chances of raiding Chelsea for N'Golo Kante are slim after his former employers slap an £80m price tag on the midfielder, reports The Daily Mirror.

Conte wants to reunite with Kante at Inter in a bid to close the gap on Serie A champions Juventus.

Kante endured a nightmare season through injury and there were suggestions Chelsea might cash in on the France international this summer.

Even when the 2018 World Cup winner was fit to play his performances were way below the level expected of him.

However, it appears Frank Lampard has no desire to cash in on Kante even if it will offset some of their summer expenditure.

Chelsea are set to take their spending spree well beyond the £200m mark when they sign Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen but Kante is not for sale.

It means Conte will have to look for alternatives to fill his midfield and it appears he has already moved on, with a reunion with Barcelona veteran Arturo Vidal now on the cards.

After not committing a single error leading to an opposition goal in his first four Premier League seasons, Kante made two in 22 appearances in 2019/20.
