Arsenal's move for Riccardo Calafiori stalls

Arsenal's move for Riccardo Calafiori has stalled as the Gunners and Italian side Bologna cannot agree a fee for the Italy international, reports The Times.

Calafiori was a key man for the Azzurri despite their last-16 exit at Euro 2024 and interest in his services soared following a series of assured displays for Italy in Germany.

While Juventus had hoped to confirm a deal for the 22-year-old prior to the tournament, the Old Lady were unable to lure Calafiori to Turin and look to have missed out on the Italian.

However, while Arsenal are leading the race to land Calafiori, they are yet to agree a fee with Bologna for the centre-back.

Arsenal had hoped to use defender Jakub Kiwior as a makeweight in the deal but the Poland international is reluctant to leave the north London side for Bologna.

AC Milan have also been linked with a move for Kiwior and the player's desire to move to Milan hasn't helped move the deal along.

Despite starting just 26 of 38 games for Bologna last season, Calafiori's return of 50 interceptions ranked sixth in the 2023/24 Serie A campaign.
