Juventus wrap up deal for Atletico Madrid target

Juventus have reached a €15m (£13.3m) agreement with Sassuolo for promising young centre-back Merih Demiral, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.

Sassuolo only signed Demiral from Turkish outfit Alanyaspor in January but the 21-year-old thoroughly impressed in the second half of last season.

Juventus reached an agreement with Sassuolo at the start of the year to have the first option on Demiral this summer.

Despite the fact Atletico Madrid were pondering a €25m (£22.2m) bid for the Turkey international, Juventus have taken up their option of first right of refusal.

It remains to be seen whether Juventus will keep Demiral for next season or loan him back to Sassuolo for one more year.

Sassuolo only won two of the 14 league matches Demiral started last season but he still finished the campaign with an impressive WhoScored rating of 7.11.

Demiral even scored two goals for Sassuolo and finished the campaign as the club’s highest WhoScored rated player in Serie A.
