Porto midfielder Giannelli Imbula has begun the process to represent the Belgium national team, reports L’Equipe.
Imbula was born near Brussels but could have opted to play for France, having represented Les Bleus right up until U21 level.
However, the 23-year-old is now targeting a spot in the Belgium squad for the European Championship’s next summer, with head coach Marc Wilmots reportedly a huge admirer.
The former Marseille midfielder was particularly impressive during Porto’s Champions League victory over Chelsea at the end of last month, where he garnered a WhoScored rating of 7.80.
