AC Milan growing confident in pursuit of Bayern Munich target

AC Milan have improved their offer to Stuttgart defender Ozan Kabak and are confident of beating Bayern Munich to his signature, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.

Kabak is free to leave Stuttgart this summer after the German outfit were relegated from the Bundesliga last season.

The Turkey international only joined Stuttgart from Galatasaray at the start of the year and was named Rookie of the Year in the Bundesliga in just six months.

Kabak has a €15m (£13.4m) release clause in his existing Stuttgart deal and has been linked with summer moves to the likes of Bayern, AC Milan and West Ham.

Bayern are on the market for a new central defender after confirming Mats Hummels’ return to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

However, Milan have upped their offer to Kabak in a bid to land the 19-year-old ahead of their rivals and are optimistic of their chances.

Despite being a centre-back, only Steven Zuber (five) has scored more league goals than Kabak (three) of Stuttgart players in 2019.

Furthermore, Kabak made more tackles and interceptions combined per game (7.5) than any other player in the group stages of last seasons Champions League (3+ apps).
