Villa eye up Berbatov move

Aston Villa are eyeing up a move for out-of-contract Dimitar Berbatov, according to reports in The Express.

The Bulgarian is currently without a club after former team Monaco opted against extending his 18 months in France.

Villa boss Tim Sherwood is keen to bolster his attack following Christian Benteke's move to Liverpool and has already secured the services of Jordan Ayew from Lorient.

Emmanuel Adebayor is supposedly close to securing a move to Villa Park and Sherwood is keen to strengthen further with the signing of Berbatov.

Rumours suggest that personal terms between player and club are now being discussed ahead of a possible return to the Premier League.

While now 34 years of age, Berbatov still boasts the goalscoring touch to succeed in England's top tier, with his 7 league goals last season bettered only by Anthony Martial and Bernardo Silva (both 9) of all Monaco players.
