Paris Saint-Germain injury news: Neymar out for the season
Neymar’s foot injury is worse than first thought and the Paris Saint-Germain forward could now miss the rest of the season.
The 26-year-old will undergo surgery this weekend back in his homeland of Brazil and the national team doctor believes it will take three months for the PSG star to make a full recovery.
Neymar was stretchered off in tears at the end of PSG’s 3-0 win over Marseille last weekend and scan results revealed the Brazilian fractured his foot.
Subsequent tests has since revealed the PSG No.10 also broke his toe in the fall and the Brazilian national team doctor does not see Neymar playing for PSG again this season.
“The [recovery] period will be around two and a half to three months,” Rodrigo Lasmar told Sky Sports.
PSG head coach Unai Emery was hopeful that Neymar would recover in time to make the second leg of their Champions League last 16 clash with Real Madrid next week but now he may not play again this season.
Neymar will now target to be fit in time for the 2018 World Cup, having suffered injury heartache four years ago in Brazil.
