Dani Alves willing to take pay-cut to join Arsenal

Dani Alves is willing to take a sizeable pay-cut in order to secure a Premier League move to Arsenal, claims The Sun.

Alves is a free agent after his Paris Saint-Germain contract expired at the start of the month and is seeking a new challenge.

The former Barcelona and Juventus right-back captained Brazil to Copa America glory this summer and was named the official player of the tournament.

Alves has been tentatively linked with a move to Manchester City to reunite with Pep Guardiola but Arsenal have also emerged as a potential next destination.

The 36-year-old is reportedly even willing to take a £30,000-a-week pay-cut in order to join Arsenal, though is still holding out for £200,000-a-week wages.

Arsenal have made a conscious effort to trim their wage bill in the last 12 months and are currently working off a restricted budget this summer.

While Alves proved at the 2019 Copa America he is still capable of playing at the highest level, Arsenal may struggle to justify such an outlay on an aging player.

Alves was the fourth highest WhoScored rated player (4+ starts) at the 2019 Copa America (7.60 rating).
