Valencia set to take massive hit on Enzo Perez

Valencia will take a staggering £20m hit on Enzo Perez after accepting a £2.6m bid from Argentinean giants River Plate, reports Diaro Sport, via Football Espana.

Perez has been transfer listed by new Valencia manager Marcelino just two years after the Spanish giants paid Benfica £22m to make him one of the club's most expensive players of all-time in January 2015.

The 31-year-old is one of the highest earners at the club and Valencia are keen to offload the Argentina international in order to balance their books.

Perez had been offered to Newcastle, who are managed by former Valencia head coach Rafa Benitez, but the veteran has opted to return to his homeland and will now join River on a three-year deal.

The Argentinean giants have been very active in the transfer window off the back of watching rivals Boca Juniors win the league and are keen to get these deals over the line before Sunday’s squad registration deadline for the Copa Libertadores.

Of players that have made at least 25 appearances in La Liga since January 2015, no Valencia player required fewer minutes per tackle than Perez (1 every 26.6 minutes of action).
