Liverpool close to agreement with long-term Arsenal target

Liverpool are close to an agreement, in principle, for Monaco star and long-term Arsenal target Thomas Lemar, reports Le10 Sport via Sport Witness.

Arsenal had hoped to sign Lemar last summer as they came close to selling Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City, only for the deal to fall through.

It remains to be seen whether the Gunners will return for the France international at the end of the season having secured the services of Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January in a deal that saw Alexis move to Manchester United.

However, their efforts to land Lemar could be in vain with Liverpool still looking to land the France international in the summer.

Le10 Sport claim an agreement is close to being reached by both parties, which would see the 22-year-old move to Anfield when the transfer window opens.

Monaco had hoped to sell Lemar for upwards of £90m last summer, though their tough stance is likely to have softened with the attacker struggling to reach the same performance levels seen last season.
