Laurent Koscielny insists he will not be forced into early retirement because of injury due his methodical training regime.
The French Football Federation diagnosed the centre-back with chronic tendinitis in both feet in October 2014 and the 32-year-old has required daily treatment since then.
Arsene Wenger has carefully managed Koscielny’s playing time this year but the France international has refuted suggestions he will have to call time on his career due to his Achilles problem.
“I don't think about if I will stop in one year or two years,” the London Evening Standard quote Koscielny as saying. “I know I need to play like this for the end of my career but I want to play more and more years for Arsenal.
“I manage myself and do everything with my physio with everyone who can help me, to lower the pain on my Achilles.“
Lorient president Loic Fery claimed earlier in the week that Koscielny wants to end his career back at the French club, but the defender’s latest comments would suggest he only has eyes on extending his stay at the Emirates.
In the last three Premier League campaigns, only Simon Francis (343) has won possession in the defensive third more times than Koscielny (327).
