Manchester City want to offer Raheem Sterling a new deal
Manchester City are willing to offer Raheem Sterling a significant increase on his current deal in order to secure his long-term future, reports The Daily Mirror.
Sterling is enjoying his best ever season and his performances have caught the eye of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring Sterling’s progress but City have no intention of letting their No.7 leave anytime soon.
Sterling still has more than two years remaining on his current £180,000-a-week deal but City are willing to offer him a 50 per cent increase on that to tie him down to fresh terms.
The 23-year-old wants to leave contract talks until after the World Cup this summer in order to focus on matters on the pitch.
City are keen to avoid that as they know that Sterling’s position in negotiations will strengthen significantly if he has a good World Cup campaign.
Only three players have scored more Premier League goals than Sterling this season (15).
