Ozil to reject Arsenal offer to reunite with Mourinho at United
Mesut Ozil will serve a double blow to Arsenal by rejecting the offer of a new contract and looking to seal a move to Manchester United, The Sunday Mirror reports.
The German’s current deal at The Emirates will expire next summer and the 28-year-old is believed to ready to let it wind down in order to leave the Gunners on a free.
Ozil’s advisors have reportedly made Manchester United aware of the appeal of a reunion with Jose Mourinho, with whom he worked at Real Madrid.
The playmaker has been subject of criticism for much of his time in the Premier League and targeted by fans and media alike for a perceived lack of work rate.
He has missed Arsenal’s last four matches through illness according to the club, though his absence has fuelled speculation that a move away is inevitable.
The fact that he would be available on a free would no doubt make it easier for any club to meet his apparent wage demands of £250,000 per week.
Since his arrival in 2013, Ozil has registered more Premier League assists than any other player (42).
