Arsenal prepare contract offer for star forward

Arsenal want to reward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with a bumper new deal as a reward for his consistent goalscoring form, claims The Daily Telegraph.

Aubameyang has two years remaining on his current £200,000-a-week deal and was frequently linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer.

The 30-year-old has been a regular goalscorer for Arsenal since joining from German side Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 for a club-record £56m fee.

Arsenal are currently working with limited financial resources and have tasked head of football Raul Sanllehi with securing Aubameyang’s long-term future.

Sanllehi helped put deals together for Arsenal’s summer signings and is working on a contract loaded with bonuses for Aubameyang.

Arsenal cannot afford to align Aubameyang with Mesut Ozil’s £350,000-a-week contract but there will be a huge bonus on the table for the striker if the Gunners secure Champions League football for next season.

Since making his Arsenal debut in February 2018, only Mohamed Salah (36) has scored more Premier League goals than Aubameyang (34).
