Atalanta forward Alejandro Gomez believes the club have reached an agreement with Roma for the transfer of rising star Franck Kessie.
The 20-year-old midfielder has been one of the stories of the season in Italy and his performances have seen him linked with big money moves with a number of clubs across Europe.
Chelsea and Juventus were reportedly interested in signing the Ivory Coast international in the January transfer window before Atalanta took the midfielder off the market in a bid to make more money on him at the end of the season.
However, both of those sides may have missed the boat on Kessie’s signing already, with Gomez sure Atalanta have struck a deal with Roma that will see Kessie to remain at the club until the end of next season.
“I think they’ve sold him to Roma,” Gomez told Radio Closs Continental, via Football Italia. “But he’ll stay with Atalanta for another year.”
Only Marek Hamsik (9) and Adam Lallana (7) have scored more goals of all midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues this season than Kessie (6).
