Daniel James set for Manchester United medical

Swansea winger Daniel James is set for his Manchester United medical after a breakthrough in negotiations, claims Sky Sports.

United have been locked in talks with Swansea for the best part of a month but have finally agreed a fee with the Championship outfit.

The Red Devils have reportedly agreed an initial £15m deal for James, who has entered the final 12 months of his current Swansea deal.

James came close to joining Leeds in January before Swansea pulled the plug on a deal at the last minute.

A host of other clubs were interested in signing the Wales international this summer but the 21-year-old only wanted to join United.

United accelerated their pursuit this week in the wake of shock interest from French side Monaco and are edging closer to completing a deal.

James has now been given a special leave of absence by Wales manager Ryan Giggs to complete a move to United and become the first signing under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

James scored four goals and registered seven assists in 33 league appearances for Swansea last season.
