Eden Hazard has rejected two contract extension offers from Chelsea and has been in contact with Real Madrid in the last few weeks, reports French outlet RMC Sport.
The Belgium international’s current Chelsea deal is due to expire in 2020 but Antonio Conte’s side are desperate to tie down his long-term future and end talk of a switch to Madrid.
Hazard has flirted with the idea of extending his stay at Stamford Bridge in recent days but it has now been revealed that the 26-year-old has already turned down two offers from the club.
Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for Hazard in the past and are expected to revitalise their offensive options in the summer with the futures of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale all uncertain.
The reigning European champions have been in talks with Hazard’s representatives in the last few weeks and talks have progressed well, but any hopes they have of signing Hazard could hinge on whether Zinedine Zidane is still manager.
Hazard has revealed on a number of occasions that Zidane is his idol but the Frenchman’s future at Madrid is also uncertain after a troubled campaign.
The Chelsea No.10 has scored six goals and provided two assists in 14 Premier League starts this season. He also features in the current WhoScored Premier League team of the season (7.67 rating).
