Serie A powerhouse interested in highly rated Portuguese midfielder

AC Milan are interested in signing Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis this summer.

The 20-year-old has been linked with a high profile switch to the Premier League in the past, with Manchester City previously monitoring his progress in Portugal.

Interest in Luis' signature remains high, despite a lack of game time for the Liga NOS outfit this season, with AC Milan not the only side courting the youngster.

And now journalist Claudia Garcia has lifted the lid on Luis' situation, telling MilanLive: "In January the parties were close, but Benfica decided to keep [him]. He is one of the most important [players] in training and therefore they were not sure of letting him leave.

"In the recent period he played less than before due to a change of formation. Now the situation is different: Coronavirus has changed the market, he is very young and must have continuity.

"For this reason, Benfica could loan him out and Milan are among those interested, but it is not the only one. There are other teams."
