Paris Saint-Germain have announced Maxwell has signed a 12-month contract extension keeping him at the club until June 2017.
Maxwell, 34, has spent the last four years at the Ligue 1 champions after joining from Barcelona in January 2012 and has developed into a regular on the left of their defence.
The ex-Brazil international had entered the final 12 months of his previous deal but PSG have moved to extend the stay of one of their most senior players.
“It’s a great pleasure to extend my contract with Paris Saint-Germain,” Maxwell told PSG’s official website. “I get along very well with the players and everyone at the club. The story goes on and I am extremely happy.
“I hope to take the team forward, think about the squad first. We will keep on being competitive, try to go as far as possible in every competition. We want to win as many titles as possible, the club deserves it.”
Since August 2012 only Layvin Kurzawa (21) has played a direct hand in more goals in Ligue 1 of all defenders than Maxwell (18).
