Eric Dier facing summer exit from Tottenham

Tottenham will sell Eric Dier this summer if the midfielder fails to sign a new deal, reports The Daily Mail.

Dier will only have 12 months left to run on his current Tottenham contract at the end of the season and is reluctant to committ to new terms.

The England international has dropped down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho and wants his future resolved before signing a new contract.

However, Tottenham are not prepared to wait around for Dier to make a decision and want to avoid another situation of a big name running down their contract

Tottenham reluctantly allowed Christian Eriksen join Inter in a cut-price deal worth £16.9m last month.

Eriksen had entered the final six months of his Tottenham contract and would have left for free this summer had Mourinho's side not cashed in.

Dier didn't make his first league appearance of the season until the end of September after picking up an injury in pre-season and has been limited to just seven starts in the competition this term.

The 26-year-old returned to favour once Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino in November but it didn't last long.

Dier started five of Mourinho's first six league matches in charge but was hauled off at half-time in their 2-0 defeat to Chelsea before Christmas and has got a look-in since.

In fact, Dier has made just three substitute appearances in Tottenham's subsequent seven league matches.

Tottenham have a significiantly better win ratio in the games Dier has started in the league this season (57.1%) compared to the matches he has not (33.3%).
