Lingard and Pereira face uncertain futures at Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to get tough on Manchester United's underperforming players with Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira in the firing line, claims The Sun.

Bruno Fernandes' arrival in January has already accelerated the club's development and United have big plans for the summer to go even further next season.

The Portugal international has slotted straight into Solskjaer's first-team plans and has instantly pushed the likes of Lingard and Pereira further down the pecking order.

Both players have huge connections with United, having come through the club's academy, but they are now on borrowed time after struggling for form this season.

Lingard's form has been particular cause for concern, while Pereira has never really convinced as a United player.

Lingard's stock has plumetted since the 2018 World Cup and off-the-field problems have not helped his cause.

Both players were axed by Solskjaer before football was suspended to deal with the outbreak of COVID-19 and now the United manager is said to be open to offers for the pair.

Lingard and Pereira face uncertain futures at Manchester United

Lingard has already linked up with Paul Pogba's controversial agent, Mino Raiola, fuelling talk of a summer move away from Old Trafford.

Pereira, meanwhile, only signed a new long-term deal with United in the summer but faces a similarly uncertain future.

In his first 478 minutes of Premier League action for United, Fernandes has played a direct hand in more goals (5) than both Pereira and Lingard combined (4) across 43 appearances between them this season.
