Pochettino and Rodgers earmarked as potential Guardiola replacements

Manchester City have earmarked former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino and Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers as potential replacements for Pep Guardiola this summer, claims The Daily Telegraph.

UEFA sent shockwaves through the football world on Friday after handing City with a two-season ban from European competition after being found to have committed 'serious breaches' of Financial Fair Play regulations (FFP).

The case is heading to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after City made it clear straight away they would appeal UEFA's ruling but the future of Guardiola and the club's star players remain in serious doubt.

Guardiola is reportedly still planning to be at City for next season but doubts about his future will intensify if the club fail in their bid to overturn the two-season ban.

City are hopeful Guardiola will remain in charge for next season but have already drawn up a list of potential replacements if the Spaniard decides to walk away at the end of the current campaign.

Pochettino has been out of work since being sacked as Tottenham manager in November and the 47-year-old has been heavily linked with Manchester United if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is sacked.

The former Tottenham manager is regarded as one of the best young coaches in the world, while City have also identified former Liverpool head coach, Rodgers, as a potential successor to Guardiola.

Rodgers has done a superb job as Leicester manager since replacing Claude Puel 12 months ago and transformed the Foxes into top-four challengers in his first full campaign in charge.

Leicester are currently one point behind City in the table and are on course to secure Champions League football for next season.

Rodgers has won 59.1% of his matches in charge of Leicester, finishing on the losing side in just 10 of his 44 games.
