Tottenham boss dismisses audacious move for City star
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has laughed at suggestions he will look to sign Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.
Aguero, 28, has been linked with a move away from City after being benched in their 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in their Champions League earlier this month.
Guardiola has been demanding more from City’s talisman all season and there had been suggestions some of their Premier League rivals, including Spurs, although Pochettino has laughed at those claims.
“Reports in Spain?” the London Evening Standard quote Pochettino as saying on speculation linking Aguero to the club. “Not true. 100 per cent not true!"
Tottenham were close to signing Aguero from Atletico Madrid but failed to match the asking price before he eventually joined Manchester City for £38m in 2011.
Since then, Aguero has scored at least 29 more goals than any other player in the Premier League (107). Indeed, of players to have scored at least 15 goals in that time Aguero has scored a goal more frequently than any other player (1 every 108 mins).
