AC Milan refuse to rule out re-signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic

AC Milan director of sport Massimiliano Mirabelli has refused to rule out a move to re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The 35-year-old is currently a free agent after being released by Manchester United at the end of last season but isn’t expected to recover to full fitness until the start of 2018.

Ibrahimovic appears to have ruled out a move to MLS and intends to stay in one of Europe’s major leagues, although there is a growing feeling that United will move to re-sign the former Sweden international in the January window.

However, Milan, who are currently on the market for another striker, have left the door open to a potential return for their former striker.

“Ibrahimovic? In life, never say never,” Mirabelli told Sport Mediaset, via Football Italia. “Maybe an old acquaintance of ours could come back…

“I don’t want to hint at Ibra, that’s not the case. We have our feet on the ground. We’ll evaluate the things that we have to do after August 15.”

Ibrahimovic spent two years at Milan before leaving to join Paris Saint-Germain in 2012. During his two league campaigns at the club, only Antonio Di Natala (65) scored or assisted more Serie A goals than Ibrahimovic (59).
