Barcelona do not have an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain wantaway
Barcelona have not agreed personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot contrary to reports in France, claims Sport.
PSG have announced Rabiot will see out the remainder of his contract on the bench after refusing to pledge his long-term future to the club.
Rabiot’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season, though PSG would prefer to sell next month when they can still command a fee.
Barcelona have twice failed in their attempts to sign Rabiot from their French counterparts in the last 12 months ago and are the frontrunners for the 23-year-old.
Reports in France even emerged this week suggesting Ernesto Valverde’s side have already agreed personal terms with Rabiot but that is reportedly not the case.
Barcelona will officially be able to negotiate with Rabiot from the start of January when the Frenchman will only have six months left to run on his existing contract.
The Spanish champions will face competition from a number of Europe’s biggest clubs, particularly if some are willing to strike a cut-price deal with PSG in January.
Rabiot is currently PSG’s fifth-highest WhoScored rated player in Ligue 1 after garnering a rating of 7.31 from 14 league appearances.
