Arsenal plan to use Bellerin to get Inter's Martinez

Arsenal hope to use right-back Hector Bellerin as a makeweight in a deal for Inter's Lautaro Martinez, claims Football Insider.

Mikel Arteta wants to bolster his offensive options this summer with Alexandre Lacazette poised to leave and Martinez has emerged as a transfer target for the club.

While Inter have categorically ruled out Romelu Lukaku's departure, the same cannot be said for his strike partner.

Martinez was linked with £100m moves to Barcelona and both Manchester clubs 12 months ago but Arsenal are eyeing the Argentina international for a fraction of the price this summer.

The Gunners are aware Inter are short at right-back after the sale of Achraf Hakimi and hope to use Bellerin as bait in order to bring them to the table for Martinez.

Arsenal have no interest in matching Inter's £75m valuation of Martinez but are offering £30m plus Bellerin in an attempt to get a deal over the line.

Martinez has entered the final two years of his current Inter deal and no extension has been agreed despite talks starting last summer.

The 23-year-old is coming off a career-best season for Inter after finishing the 2020/21 campaign with 17 goals and six assists.

Moreover, only one player won possession in the attack more times than Martinez last season (32).
