Former Spurs boss lined up as Mourinho replacement

Former Tottenham manager Juande Ramos has emerged as shock candidate to replace Jose Mourinho should Chelsea sack their most successful manager, claims The Times.

Ramos, 61, reportedly has close connections to Chelsea’s technical director Michael Emenalo and could be trusted with the reigns until the end of the season when Chelsea can land a long-term target.

Chelsea are reluctant to part ways with Mourinho, who has granted them their most successful times as a club, but are growing estranged by the club’s incredible slump just months after they won the league title.

The Blues slipped to their ninth defeat of the season when they were beaten 2-1 by league leaders Leicester on Monday night to remain just one point above the bottom three after 16 matches.

Ramos, who is currently out of work, would go down as a very left field appointment, particularly after going down as a flop during his 12 months in charge of Spurs. In fact, Ramos picked up just 2 points from his final eight matches in charge of Spurs.
