Manchester United and Chelsea target signs new deal

Manchester United and Chelsea have been served a decisive blow in their pursuit of Radja Nainggolan after Roma announced the midfield dynamo has signed a new four-year deal.

Nainggolan has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the last two seasons and even turned down Antonio Conte's Chelsea 12 months ago.

The Belgium international opted to stay with Roma but there were suggestions the combative midfielder felt promises by the club went unkept and he would angle for a move away this summer.

United manager Jose Mourinho had earmarked the 29-year-old as a primary target for the Red Devils this summers but will now be forced to look at alternative options after the Belgian extended his stay in the Eternal City until 2021.

"I think I have demonstrated that this is what I always wanted," Nainggolan told the club's official website. "So I’m very happy, especially that the club and I can continue our adventure and move forward together."

Nainggolan has spent the last four years with Roma but really stamped his mark on the team last season where he was named the club's player of the year by the supporters.

In fact, only Marek Hamsik (12) scored more Serie A goals of central midfielders than Nainggolan (11) last season.
