Manchester United target flattered by interest

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic says he is ‘flattered’ by Manchester United’s interest but has moved to downplay any suggestions of a summer move.

Milinkovic-Savic has been in sensational form for the Serie A side this season and the Serbia international is expected to be subject of intense transfer speculation in the summer.

United have been heavily linked with a move for the 22-year-old with Jose Mourinho desperate to bolster his midfield options but he could face competition for his signature from former club Real Madrid.

Lazio reportedly value their star midfielder in excess of £80m and Milinkovic-Savic admits it’s nice to be linked with some of the biggest clubs in the world.

“It’s nice when people are talking about me,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport. “But I don’t place too much importance on these things. I’m happy at Lazio and am feeling good here for now, but then we will have to see.”

Milinkovic-Savic has weighed in with nine goals in 24 league appearances for Lazio this season, which is all the more impressive when you consider he is a central midfielder.

Not only that, but the youngster is one of the top-10 highest WhoScored rated players in Serie A this season (7.50 rating).
