Roma director Mauro Baldissoni has revealed Chelsea target Radja Nainggolan could be sold this summer but only if potential suitors are prepared to match their lofty price tag.
Incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has reportedly earmarked the Belgium international as the player he wants to transform the current Chelsea squad and the Blues have been heavily linked with the 27-year-old as a result.
And now Chelsea have been given a boost in their pursuit of the Roma midfielder after Baldissoni conceded that every player has their price.
“There’s nothing indispensable,” he told Mediaset Premium, via the London Evening Standard. “A player could be sold to bring in fresh funds and sign different figures, but it would in any case be a choice.
“We will make choices within the club with the perspective of coach and players to see how we can reinforce and improve Roma.”
Nainggolan has spent the last two years at Roma following a move from Cagliari in 2014. Of players to have scored at least five goals in Serie A since the start of last season, only three have a worse conversion rate than Nainggolan (6%).
Discipline can prove a problem for the central midfield, but his fiery personality is likely to be one of the reasons why he resonates so well with Conte. In fact, no player has picked up more yellow cards in Italy’s top-flight since the start of last season than the Antwerp-born midfielder (20).
