Nice plot January raid for Brahimi

Nice are looking to bolster their title chances by signing Porto winger Yacine Brahimi, according to L’Equipe.

Brahimi, 26, was widely expected to leave Porto in the summer with a move to Everton mooted but it failed to materialise and the forward has slowly been integrated back into the Porto first-team ever since.

The Algeria international, however, is due to leave for Africa Cup of Nations duty at the start of next year, which could prove a stumbling block in Nice’s desire to sign the forward.

Brahimi has done well since returning to the first team fold at Porto in recent months but is still expected to be sold in the next two transfer windows before they lose value with his contract due to expire in 2019.

Nice are currently top of Ligue 1, although their lead at the top was cut to just two points after failing to beat Bordeaux on Wednesday, which was made worse by the fact Mario Balotelli was shown a straight red card.

The Porto No.8 is currently playing a direct hand in a league goal every 82.8 minutes of action having scored three and registered two assists in just 414 minutes of league action.

Furthermore, no player to have featured in more than 5 Liga NOS matches this season requires fewer minutes per successful dribble than Brahimi (1 every 17.3 minutes).
