Barcelona ace rules out Bayern Munich switch

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has ruled out leaving Barcelona for Bayern Munich this summer.

The Germany international has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern in recent weeks as the Bundesliga giants plan for Manuel Neuer's long-term replacement.

Schalke's Alexander Nubel is already joining Bayern this summer but it hasn't stopped their interest in former Gladbach shot-stopper Ter Stegen.

The 28-year-old has developed into one of the world's best goalkeepers since joining Barcelona in 2014.

Barcelona are in financial turmoil following the Coronavirus pandemic but Ter Stegen is one of the players they are not looking to sell.

Ter Stegen's existing contract only has two years left to run but he has confirmed negotiations with Barcelona about an extension were underway before lockdown.

"It's not possible that I'll leave this summer," he told German outlet Kicker. "There were some initial meetings between my agent and the club [regarding a renewal]. Then the virus got in the way and it wasn't the moment to talk about a contract.

"At a time when many people were concerned for their lives, we decided to postpone it. I feel good in Barcelona, also because my family feel good."

Ter Stegen has remarkably registered two assists in LaLiga this season, having failed to manage one in 223 league appearances prior to this term.

In fact, the Barcelona goalkeeper has as many assists in LaLiga as Eden Hazard and Vinicius Junior combined.
